I went to BMW India Bridal Fashion Week as a part of commissioned shoot for one of the leading magazine. With the Bridal season knocking up it’s the best time to be in a Bridal Week and when BMW India and DLF Emporio (One of the Asia’s most expensive malls) are a part of the show along with Azva the show is gotta be exciting.
Hailed the ‘Karl Lagerfeld of India’ Tarun Tahiliani has made a name for himself as one of India’s first international fashion designers. After earning his degree in business management from Wharton Business School, Tahiliani saw a gap in the market. In 1987, he founded the country’s first multi-brand boutique, Ensemble. Shortly thereafter, to build his technical design skills, he received an associate degree from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and launched his eponymous brand in 1994.
In this post we bring you Tarun Tahiliani's collection from Day-1 of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week . The 4 days of the Bridal week will have big names flaunting their work such as Tarun Tahiliani, Sumit Varma, JJ Valaya, Raghavendra Rathore & Meera & Mujaffar Ali. We spotted Charming Marc Robinson on each day of the show.
And with Nargis Fakri, Shraddha Kapoor,Esha Gupta & Kangana Ranaut on the ramp the charm of the Bridal week is to be going up..ofcourse!
Modern Mughals by Tarun Tahiliani
The audience was welcomed by a spectacular sight of a fully lit up Rashtrapati Bhavan on the ramp, through a projector. Adding to it, Tarun Tahiliani’s unconventional and edgy bridal collection named ‘Modern Mughals’ stunned many as it showcased black and gold as the new bridal wear colors this season!

The collection along with gold & blacks also formed a pastoral romance of pinks, beiges, burnt orange and noir colors.
What we noticed was the use of modern fabric like sheer silks, reshams and tulle which made the ensembles lighter for movement while extensive layering, long trains and ruffles were also seen.
Tahiliani’s collection had a mix of textured salwars, dhoti pants, Patiala salwars and non-conformist pair of trousers to gilded amour choli, vest coats and anarkali kurtas.
Not to forget Tahiliani’s bride was dressed in an orange lehenga choli with intricate and intense gold work.

Men's collection
For Men's range, the classic black combination was given a twist with unconventional shades such as pistachio, deep orange and gold. The ensembles had a stately feel to them, and included a range of kurtas, jodhpurs, dhotis and the essential sherwani, styled together with lavish drapes and cummerbands. is wedding collecting used a plentiful of gold, unconventional pistachio, deep oranges for the kurta and sherwani this season.
He also broke the convention by unfurling his black bridal ensemble and said "I love black. It's timeless,".
